Denzelle Teachey of Spring Valley was arrested after police responded to the area of the Transit Center Wednesday for a fight between two men, involving a firearm, said Officer Matthew Galli.

While on their way to the call, officers were flagged down by a male who said that the man in possession of the firearm was inside of 4 N Main St., Suite 2, Galli said.

A description was given and officers responded to the address and found Teachey inside and gave verbal commands, which he didn't comply with, police said.

Instead, Teachey ran into a separate room and was observed removing a firearm from his waistband which he was trying to hide from officers. He then dropped the firearm on the ground and ran out of another doorway, Galli added.

Officers confronted Teachey, and when they attempted to handcuff him, he began to put up a struggle. Officers were able to handcuff and secure Teachey after the struggle. Officers then re-entered the room and recovered a loaded 9mm pistol, police said.

Teachey was charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstruction of government administration.
